Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience returned to in-person classes Monday five weeks after the tragic shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School, its neighboring school.
BHR Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Bart Andrews spoke about trauma with KSDK stating kids will have a variety of feelings returning to school, which is natural. It is important to think of the mental trauma as an injury, one that needs care and time to heal.
“As hard as it is, it is important to get people back in the place where they were before. It actually speeds up the recovery process. But the youth need to be prepared, this is a hard thing to do, it is not easy,” said Dr. Andrews.
